The morning began like any other in the lush green forest. Sunlight filtered through the tall trees, painting golden patches on the ground. Birds chirped cheerfully, and a gentle breeze carried the scent of fresh leaves. CUTIS, the clever and playful young monkey, sat quietly on a branch, unusually thoughtful. Beside him, the baby monkey clung to the bark, blinking curiously at him.
Something was different.
Normally, CUTIS would already be jumping from tree to tree, teasing the baby monkey, or trying to sneak fruit before breakfast. But today, he seemed focused—almost secretive.
The baby monkey tilted its head. “What are you thinking?” its small eyes seemed to ask.
CUTIS leaned closer and whispered softly, “Shhh… we’re going to do something special today. But it’s a secret.”
The baby monkey’s eyes widened with excitement.
A secret?
That meant adventure.
CUTIS glanced toward the clearing where Mom was busy gathering food. She looked tired. Over the past few days, she had been working extra hard—finding food, protecting them, and keeping everything in order. CUTIS had noticed. Even though he loved to play, deep down he cared very much about her.
And today, he wanted to do something about it.
CUTIS gently motioned for the baby monkey to follow him. They carefully climbed down the tree, making sure not to make noise. The baby monkey struggled a little, almost slipping, but CUTIS quickly caught its arm.

“Careful,” CUTIS whispered. “We have an important mission.”
The baby monkey nodded seriously, trying its best to be quiet.
Their first stop was the fruit grove. Usually, Mom would collect fruits for everyone. But today, CUTIS had a different plan. He scanned the trees carefully, looking for the ripest and sweetest fruits.
He jumped up gracefully and reached a high branch, picking a bright red fruit. He sniffed it, smiled, and dropped it down to the baby monkey.
The baby monkey caught it—almost.
It bounced once, and the baby monkey scrambled after it, finally hugging it tightly like a treasure.
CUTIS couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
“Good job,” he said. “But we need more.”
They worked together, slowly building a small pile of fruits. The baby monkey tried its best to help, even carrying fruits that were almost too big for its tiny arms. Sometimes it stumbled, sometimes it dropped them, but it never gave up.
After gathering enough fruit, CUTIS looked around.
“Next,” he said, “we need something beautiful.”
The baby monkey blinked again. Beautiful?
CUTIS led the way to a patch of colorful flowers. There were bright yellows, deep purples, and soft pink blossoms swaying gently in the breeze. CUTIS carefully picked a few, making sure not to damage them.
He showed the baby monkey how to choose the prettiest ones.

“Not too many,” CUTIS explained. “Just the best.”
The baby monkey tried to copy him but ended up picking a slightly wilted flower. It looked unsure.
CUTIS smiled kindly. “It’s okay. It’s still special.”
The baby monkey beamed with pride.
Together, they arranged the fruits and flowers in a hidden spot near the clearing. CUTIS then stepped back and examined their work.
“Hmm… something is missing,” he muttered.
The baby monkey looked confused.
CUTIS suddenly snapped his fingers—well, as close as a monkey could.
“I know!”
He ran off quickly and returned with large green leaves. Carefully, he placed them under the fruits, creating a neat little display. Then he added the flowers on top, turning the simple collection into something that looked almost magical.
The baby monkey clapped its tiny hands in excitement.
It was beautiful.
But CUTIS wasn’t done yet.
“Now,” he said, “we wait.”
The baby monkey sat beside him, trying very hard to stay still. Waiting was not its strongest skill. It fidgeted, looked around, and almost wandered off twice. Each time, CUTIS gently pulled it back.
“Patience,” he whispered.
Finally, the moment came.

Mom finished her work and slowly walked back toward the clearing. She looked tired, her movements slower than usual. CUTIS watched her carefully.
“Ready?” he asked the baby monkey.
The baby monkey nodded eagerly.
CUTIS gave a small signal.
They both jumped out at once.
“Surprise!”
Mom stopped in her tracks.
Her eyes widened.
In front of her was the carefully arranged collection of fruits and flowers, glowing softly in the sunlight. CUTIS stood proudly beside it, and the baby monkey bounced happily, pointing at their creation.
For a moment, Mom said nothing.
She simply stared.
CUTIS felt a tiny bit nervous. What if she didn’t like it? What if it wasn’t good enough?
But then—
Mom smiled.
It wasn’t just a small smile. It was warm, deep, and full of emotion. Her eyes softened, and for the first time that day, she looked truly happy.
“You did this?” she asked gently.
CUTIS nodded.
“With help,” he added, pointing to the baby monkey.
The baby monkey puffed up proudly.
Mom stepped closer, looking at every detail—the carefully chosen fruits, the colorful flowers, the neat arrangement. She could see the effort. The thought. The love behind it.
She knelt down and pulled both of them into a warm hug.

“This is the most special surprise I’ve ever had,” she said softly.
CUTIS felt his heart fill with joy.
The baby monkey squeaked happily, hugging her back.
In that moment, the forest seemed even brighter. The birds sang louder, the breeze felt softer, and everything was filled with warmth.
CUTIS realized something important.
Sometimes, the most meaningful things weren’t big or complicated. They didn’t require strength or speed. All they needed was care, effort, and a little bit of love.
The baby monkey looked up at Mom, then at CUTIS, and then back at the beautiful display they had made together.
It didn’t fully understand everything.
But it understood one thing clearly.
This moment mattered.
Mom picked up a fruit and shared it with them. They sat together, eating, laughing, and enjoying the simple happiness they had created.
And from that day on, whenever Mom looked tired or worried, CUTIS and the baby monkey would exchange a secret glance.
Because they both knew—
They had the power to make her smile again.
