The forest was buzzing with energy that morning. Sunlight streamed through the leaves, and everything felt alive and playful. CUTIS, the clever young monkey known for his quick thinking, was already wide awake, sitting on his favorite branch and watching the world below.
Not far away, the baby monkey had just woken up—and as usual, trouble wasn’t far behind.
The little one stretched, yawned, and immediately spotted something exciting: a group of older monkeys gathered around a strange-looking object on the ground. It was shiny, round, and filled with something thick and golden.
The baby monkey’s eyes sparkled.
Food?
Without thinking twice, it started climbing down the tree.
CUTIS noticed instantly.
“Oh no,” he muttered under his breath. “That little troublemaker is about to get into something.”
He quickly followed.
By the time CUTIS reached the ground, the baby monkey was already sneaking closer to the object. The older monkeys were distracted, chatting loudly and not paying much attention.
The baby monkey stretched out a tiny hand.

Drip.
A sticky drop of golden liquid fell onto its finger.
It sniffed it.
Then tasted it.
Its face lit up with pure joy.
It was sweet—sweeter than anything it had ever tasted before.
Honey.
The baby monkey giggled softly and dipped its hand again.
CUTIS rushed forward and grabbed its arm.
“Wait!” he whispered urgently.
The baby monkey looked confused. “But it’s so good!”
CUTIS sighed. “I know. But that’s not just any honey.”
The baby monkey blinked.
“What do you mean?”
CUTIS leaned closer and pointed upward.
The baby monkey followed his gaze.

High above them, hidden among the branches, was a large buzzing cloud.
Bees.
Lots of bees.
The baby monkey’s smile slowly disappeared.
“Oh…”
CUTIS nodded. “Exactly. And they do NOT like it when someone steals their honey.”
Right on cue, a faint buzzing sound grew louder.
The older monkeys suddenly noticed and quickly scattered, running in different directions.
The baby monkey froze.
Its hand was still covered in honey.
The buzzing got louder.
CUTIS acted fast.
“Come on!” he said, grabbing the baby monkey’s hand and pulling it away.
But instead of running wildly like the others, CUTIS had a plan.
“Follow me and do exactly what I do,” he said.
The baby monkey nodded nervously.
They dashed toward a nearby muddy patch near the riverbank. Without hesitation, CUTIS jumped right into it—splash!
The baby monkey stopped.

“Mud?!”
“No time to think!” CUTIS said. “Jump!”
The buzzing was now very close.
The baby monkey squeezed its eyes shut and jumped into the mud.
SPLAT!
Mud covered its arms, legs, and even its face.
CUTIS quickly scooped up some mud and gently spread it over the baby monkey’s sticky hand.
“Why are we doing this?” the baby monkey asked, panicking.
“To hide the smell,” CUTIS replied quickly. “Bees follow the honey. If we cover it, they won’t find us!”
The baby monkey held its breath.
The buzzing sound came closer…
and closer…
A few bees flew around them, circling curiously. The baby monkey trembled, trying not to move.
One bee landed briefly on its muddy arm.
The baby monkey’s eyes went wide.
CUTIS whispered softly, “Stay still.”
Seconds felt like forever.

Then, slowly, the bees drifted away, returning to their hive.
The buzzing faded.
Silence.
The baby monkey blinked.
“We’re… safe?”
CUTIS smiled. “We’re safe.”
The baby monkey suddenly burst into laughter.
It looked down at itself—completely covered in mud, with sticky bits still clinging here and there.
CUTIS looked at it…
and started laughing too.
“You look like a chocolate banana!” he joked.
The baby monkey giggled uncontrollably. “And you look worse!”
CUTIS glanced at his reflection in the water and laughed. “Okay, maybe I do.”
They both sat there, muddy and messy, laughing so hard they could barely breathe.
After a while, the baby monkey looked at CUTIS with admiration.
“You’re really smart,” it said. “I didn’t even think about the bees.”
CUTIS shrugged playfully. “That’s why you have me around.”
The baby monkey grinned. “I’m glad I do.”
Just then, Mom appeared, walking toward them.
She stopped.
Looked at them.
Looked again.

“What… happened to you two?” she asked, trying not to laugh.
CUTIS stood up proudly. “We avoided trouble.”
The baby monkey added, “Funniest trouble ever!”
Mom raised an eyebrow.
CUTIS explained everything—the honey, the bees, the mud plan.
By the end of the story, Mom couldn’t hold it in anymore. She burst out laughing.
“You two are unbelievable,” she said, shaking her head.
“But… smart,” she added, looking at CUTIS with a proud smile.
Then she gently cleaned the baby monkey’s face.
“Next time,” she said, “maybe don’t touch things that don’t belong to you.”
The baby monkey nodded quickly. “I learned my lesson!”
CUTIS smirked. “Did you?”
The baby monkey paused… then smiled mischievously.
“…Maybe.”
CUTIS laughed. “I’ll keep an eye on you.”
As the sun climbed higher, they walked back together, still chuckling about the muddy escape.
The baby monkey skipped ahead happily, no longer scared, just full of excitement.
CUTIS followed, relaxed but alert, always ready for the next adventure—or the next trouble.
Because with the baby monkey around, there was always something waiting to happen.
And no matter how funny or messy things got, one thing was certain—
CUTIS would always be there to turn trouble into laughter.
